Ivan Galanin is an inventor, clinician, and published scientist in the domains of rare genetic disease and skin aging. As founder of Adipeau, he collaborates with the Volker Lauschke laboratory at the Karolinska Instituet in Sweden to understand how fat cells regenerate and impact skin structure. He also leads clinical investigations into the efficacy of Adipeau’s products.
Ivan began his scientific career at sanofi in inflammation research. He spent 8 years evaluating innovative concepts to treat lung, kidney, liver and skin disease. He joined Mount Sinai School of Medicine as the Head of Commercial Development and went on to found two companies: Plexcera Therapeutics (2012) to treat Farber Disease and My Personal Therapeutics (2016, now Vivan Therapeutics) to treat Colorectal Cancer. As CEO of Plexcera, Ivan led successful pre-IND meetings with the FDA and EMA, and secured a prestigiousTRND grant from the National Institutes of Health.
In 2017, he initiated research on natural products to treat dysfunctional dermal fat cells. The product of this research became Adipeau.
In 2022, he started the AEDUCATOR channel on YouTube to bring deeply scientific content to skincare enthusiasts. The channel’s unique perspectives on topics such as retinoic-acid induced skin thinning and hyaluronic acid-induced barrier dysfunction have received more than 90,000 views.
