The beauty industry loves to scare people.

And zombie skin cells are the latest scare tactic.

Most people do not know anything about cell senescence, so the idea that zombie skin cells that won’t die and actively cause healthy cells to become zombies is a great strategy to motivate the purchase of creams.

This episode investigates whether senescence of fibroblast is something to be worried about.

This new Aeducator investigation is divided into three segments:

3:03 Agostino introduces the science of cell senescence
12:56 The investigation begins.
22:20 Things you can do to help your skin resist zombie cells.

Why do we focus on fibroblasts? These are the cells that make collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. These are the work-horses of the skin.

These cells are also difficult to reach with creams and devices. That’s because they lie deep in the skin.

In this episode, I am joined by scientist and skin-care lover, Agostino di Monoco. We examined peer-reviewed paper we could find on senescent fibroblasts.

What we found was in many ways surprising.

In fact, I am not sure that this has ever been reported before. Certainly, not on YouTube.

The findings are reassuring for everyone who takes good care of their bodies.

Keep at it and the zombie skin apocalypse will be as remote as the earth-destroying asteroid.
